OPENING DAY – Friday, June 20, 2014 – As they say “The sun was a shinin’ to welcome the day” and shine it did! With a full range of vendors selling fresh, local food, hand made crafts, and items that reflect our rural oceanside community, the market was off to fine start.
Beautifully organized by our two new co-market managers,Katie McAllister
…and Kat Jackson, visitors both new and old were able to navigate through the grounds to make purchases, visit with artisans, pat a baby potbelly pig, and participate in children’s activities provided by the Church of the Holy Spirit.
Volunteers from the Charlestown Land Trust greeted shoppers and shared information on the Land Trust while the music of James Desalvo filtered throughout the market. (We hope he will be returning again soon…)
As for this coming week – Friday, June 27th? Look for representatives from the RI Beekeepers’ Association along with HONEY to purchase. Josh Schurman, a guitarist who was such a hit at our market last year, will be back this Friday.
Keep an eye out for featured vendors and events posted here throughout the season. Welcome to Summer 2014!
PS This tiny resident emerged from a bunnynest in the shadow of one of the vendor tents…The mother rabbit, not in sight all morning, must have hoped her babies’ habitat would remain undiscovered…. and then been relieved to see our market pack up and leave on Friday afternoon.
