Fri., June 24, 2016 – A golden day to greet visitors as we began Season #9! Volunteers and vendors arrived bright and early to set up shop for our first-of-the-summer CLT Farmers’ Market.
Shoppers streamed to the market to see and sample the fresh offerings of the market. From an abundance of early season lettuces….
…to preserves made from fresh strawberries….or maybe a rainbow of garden flowers?
And then there were plantings for your garden at home…
….including offerings from guest vendor Meadowbrook Waldorf School
…and pottery for displaying those plants from Kelley Kreations.
Breads from long time vendor Great Harvest…
…along with several varieties of granola from our NEW vendor – The Providence Granola Company!
There was a lively spirit of community as people greeted one another after a long winter’s absence….the young…and some of the rest of us….
Nick Cicchese’s music added to the atmosphere,
and this week we were joined by Master Gardeners and the Clean Energy group, both from URI along with Scott MacNeill from the Ninigret Observatory with his sunviewing equipment.
It’s always a worthwhile venture to visit the Chalrestown Land Trust Farmers’ Market on a Friday morning in the summer – 4150 Old Post Road in Charlestown.
What’s there to look forward to next Friday, July 1st? Along with shopping for all that seasonal fresh food, join us to meet the RI Beekeepers Association, the Charlestown Historical Society, and check on your water quality with URI’s Cooperative Extension reps….Enjoy visiting, shopping, and strolling to the music of this coming week’s music performed by Farm Dog!
